Dear Dr. Timmerman,

This class has been a great help in sharpening my English skills. This semester has been successful, as I know that I have improved, not only as a writer, but also as an analyst of literal works. We set objectives as a class at the start of the semester to become better than we were before this class. I have no regrets on taking this class as my personal objectives have been met and surpassed. I now know most of the norms that pertain to the English language. I have learnt the common mistakes that writers make that make the difference between a good and a bad paper. The methods of teaching used in this class have made a grave difference to my writing.

The topics covered in this class were hugely beneficial. I felt that they made the difference between what I learnt in high school and what I learn now. In high school, I never took my studies seriously. Our high school teachers did not emphasize on the importance of a quality paper. As a result, I got grades that were not worth the paper I had written. In this course, we were mentored and shown the importance of going the extra mile. I had to work extra hard so that my grades could improve. I did more research on the English language, and as a result, I was able to learn so much more.

This class has made me better at making presentations. At first, I was shy, and I could not speak out in class. Thanks to this course, I have now gained confidence in myself. Through practicing diction, I have become a better speaker. I am no longer afraid to speak in front of a crowd as all this has been addressed. Through group discussions, I have been able to improve on my vocabulary. I am learning both through you as my instructor and through my peers. This style of teaching that involves the class also has made the learning environment fun and friendly. It is because of this that my people skills have also improved. I am now able to converse with my classmates confidently.

I learnt many things in this course. The teaching style was unique. I feel that this was what encouraged my fellow students, and I to strive to be better. The way you addressed the popular mistakes that most students and writers make helped me reevaluate my work. After identifying what I was doing wrong, I was able to correct my mistakes. This played a crucial role in improving my writing. At the start of the class, you gave us pointers that helped me evaluate what I wanted to learn from this class. After I had set my goals and objectives, it made it easier for me to concentrate in class. This is because I had a target to achieve. I could not afford to deviate from my goal. This advice gave me a boost, as I now knew the reasons why I was taking this class. Now, as I go through the goals I had set for myself, I have realized that I have surpassed them.

I feel that I should get an A in this class. This is because I have shown steady improvement since the beginning to date. The first paper I wrote cannot be compared to the paper I wrote last. I have incorporated all the advice you have given me throughout this course. I believe that this is clear in my work. I have also attended all my lectures and presented all the assignments on time. My class participation is also good. This shows that I am a promising and dedicated student.
