Introduction

The Rolling Stones were known to be one of the greatest rock and roll bands of the 1960s. Rolling stones are one of the greatest British rock music bands that were formed in 1961. It became the major part of the British invasion of rock bands during the 1960s. The rolling stones were very popular among the youths of America when it was first formed in 1960s along with the Beatles. The Rolling Stones under the charismatic Mick Jagger were taken to represent the 1960s rebellion and sexual liberation. They also represented the drug-induced addictions of that particular generation with many people under drug addiction and drug arrests being the headlines in the news.

However, with time, the Rolling Stones began to change by overcoming some of its problems and internal dissension to come out as a stable rock band. Thus, the Rolling Stones despite their age are known to be among the few 1960s rock acts who continue to take major parts in the music business and get regular attention from the media. For instance, on February 5, 2006 the Rolling Stones had the chance to be played at halftime of Super bowl XL.

The main artistes of the Beatles during the year 1962 included Lennon John, Harrison George, and Starr Ringo, with the two original members Sutcliffe Stuart and Best Pete. All of these characters are known to have originated from Liverpool, England. On the other hand, The Rolling Stones were established in London and its members consisted of Jagger Mike, Keith Richards, Watt Charlie and Ronnie Wood (Campbell, 2007). Unfortunately, their original member, Brian Jones, accidentally drowned in a swimming pool.

The Rolling Stones in the mid 1960s decided to make a change in the way of their presentation from traditional style to psychedelic music. They grew even more in their popularity all over the world and remained that way up to the time when the band had to part ways. The group’s success is through the fact that it was ever willing and ready to make the first attempt of using instruments that had not been used previously by rock bands. They were of great help especially in helping provide a dividing social in the mid 1960s. The Rolling Stones in their early days could only play cover versions of American rhythm and blues; however, they were later encouraged by their manager to write their own pop songs just like the Beatles were doing.

The two singers Mick Jagger and the guitarist Keith Richards decided to follow their manager’s instructions of writing their own pop rock and roll songs. This led the group to a very successful path especially with the release of their song Satisfaction, which proved to be their great breakthrough. The song was perceived to be a great threat to the older audience since it produced a lot of attitude both in its lyrics and in its soundtrack and the way the song was preformed by The Rolling Stones. The song later became an all purpose and anti-development anthem with large applicability since it was the best fit for its time and audience.

The Rolling Stones were established as a rhythm and blues cover rock band having Mick Jagger as the leader in early 1960s. The group began simply as a songwriting partnership and grew slowly to become a rock band. Their first performance was at the Marquee club in 1962. However, with the passing of time, the group decided to tour the United Kingdom with the aim of training since it was the first time for all of them. In 1963, the group was still struggling to gain popularity. However, by the end of 1963, they had acquired it and they were the most popular group in England, overtaking even the Beatles. The Rolling Stones were established in London and its members consisted of Jagger Mike, Keith Richards, and Watt Charlie Ronnie Wood with the inclusion of their original members by the name of Brian Jones who accidentally was drowned in a swimming pool.

The Rolling Stones were very popular among the youths of America when it was first formed in 1960s along with the Beatles. They are known to have been addressing the drug-induced addictions of that particular generation with many youths under drug addiction and drug arrests being the major talk in the news. However, The Rolling Stones was forced to change its form of taking life through taking serious precautions of the main issues facing them and carrying out internal dissension to come out as a stable rock band that could promote a healthy life, free from drugs. Therefore, The Rolling Stones were a powerful rock band of the 1960s that struggled through thick and thin to ensure that it achieved its goals.
