The team can use different communication media depending on what the company feels is both effective and efficient (Godar, & Ferris, 2004). Videoconferencing as a way of communicating noted by the use of the internet or a local area network will aid the team members in communication as though they were in the same room. Advanced technology will allow live video conferencing. Audio communication can also be used. This primarily utilizes phones for the communication aspect. Unfortunately, it cannot be termed as the best approach since it can only be used by one person to another at a time unless two or more people are in the same room. Collaborative software acts as another type of useful media for global communication (Godar, & Ferris, 2004). The group can use test messages or emails when stating goals or forwarding company updates.
The most effective and optimal media would be e-mailing. With this approach, the team members only require e-mail accounts and an internet connection to achieve communication. Additionally, the team can have a common e-mail account with a common password so that team members can post any information in the account that can be accessed by all members without emailing it to multiple users (Sadowski-Rasters, Duysters, & Sadowski, 2006). Therefore, e-mails can be used for the training since they are fast and effective. Another method that can be used is the internet enabled video conferencing. Although it is more expensive than emailing, it is highly effective. It allows for real-time sessions and thus acts as a good tool for question and answer sessions. Another method is the instant messaging where a particular team member passes a message electronically and thus received instantly.
The team leader can be appointed and notified to the others through an email. He/she has to initiate the training by alerting team members to be always online and to check their e-mail accounts frequently. He/she will also assign the team members with responsibilities. For example, a member or two can be assigned the marketing responsibility. In the case of sub-teams, each member will be assigned with specific responsibilities. The same should be applied to the software application and other areas of the team’s concern (Sadowski-Rasters, et al., 2006). Members can post their responses and progressions for the given tasks on the common e-mail account or to individual e-mail accounts. In other words, the team-head will oversee the gathering and the delivering of the training information from the individual members.
